Safar Abiyev: “Repeal of amendment 907 will create favorable conditions for the enhancement of future cooperation with US”
Azerbaijani Defense Minister, Colonel General Safar Abiyev met with US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Evelyn N. Farkas. The Pres Service of the Defence Ministry told SIA that they exchanged views on expansion of military relations basing on Azerbaijan-US bilateral cooperation program.
The Azerbaijani Defense Minister drew the guest’s attention to the strain military and political situation in the region and focused on some factors impeding the development of long-term cooperation between the countries.
Underlining that Section 907 had not been repealed, Minister said it had negative impact not only on the issues of military cooperation, but also on the solution of other problems. Safar Abiyev said repeal of the amendment that was once approved unfairly will create favorable conditions for the enhancement of future cooperation. They also discussed other importance issues on Azerbaijan-US military cooperation.
The US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar also attended the meeting.
