International conference "Heritage Under Pressure – Perspectives of Historic Urban Landscape" organized by the Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Ministry and UNESCO has started in Baku.

Addressing the opening of the conference, Culture and Tourism Minister Abulfaz Garayev told journalists that the event aimed to introduce the rich historical heritage of Azerbaijan to the world community.

According to the minister, the Azerbaijani land is full of historical monument and buildings, which are part of the world culture.

However, the minister noted with regret that over 350 historical monuments located in the occupied Azerbaijani lands were not included to the list of UNESCO.

"There are many historical monuments in the occupied lands of our country and, therefore, our goal is to draw the attention of the international community to the fact of destruction of these monuments. And the role of UNESCO in this issue should have a great significance," Garayev stressed.
