Russia will support crisis-hit Lebanon with 25,000 tons of wheat and 10,000 tons of fuel, the public works minister said on Monday.
The Minister of Public Works and Transport of Lebanon, Ali Hamiya, said in a press statement that Russia will donate 25 thousand tons of wheat and 10 thousand tons of fuel to the country struggling with food and electricity crisis, SIA refers to foreign media.
Hamiye said that Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved wheat and fuel grants for Lebanon. Saying that Lebanon was informed about this issue yesterday - October 31, Hamiya did not reveal the details of when Moscow will send wheat and fuel support.
The support for Lebanon came after Russia suspended the grain corridor agreement. Lebanon, which was among the countries most affected in terms of food by the war between Russia and Ukraine, which began on February 24, previously imported 65 percent of its wheat from the two countries.
On September 26, the first grain ship of Lebanon, which departed from Ukraine within the framework of the Grain Corridor agreement signed between Ukraine and Russia under the leadership of Turkiye and the United Nations, arrived at the port of Tripoli in the north of the country.
Russia announced on October 29 that it has suspended the agreement providing for grain transportation from Ukraine.
