Germany finds alternative to Russian gas

Germany has started importing natural gas from France, SIA refers to Russian media. The country's push to find alternative sources of gas and end its dependence on Russia has yielded this result.

The Associated Press, referring to the press service of the French operator GRTgaz, writes that previously direct supply of blue fuel was practically not carried out.

According to GRTgaz, the first gas transportation has started in the village of Oberbeilbach, located on the border with the gas pipeline connecting two European countries. At the initial stage, the volume will be 31 GW/h. (2.9 million cubic meters of gas).

In the future, the supply volume is expected to reach 100 GW/h (9.5 million cubic meters of gas) per day, which is about 2 percent of the total gas consumption in Germany.

The deliveries are made within the framework of the energy cooperation agreements between Paris and Berlin. In addition, Germany is currently trying to diversify its purchase of blue fuel.
