Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to the OSCE commented on Armenia's statements at the UN Security Council

The Permanent Representation of Azerbaijan in the OSCE addressed a statement regarding the situation on the Khankendi-Lachin road, SİA reports.

In the letter, it was emphasized in the speech of the representative of Armenia at the UN Security Council that the falsification of the internationally recognized territories of Azerbaijan is against international law.

"References to such names, which have no historical and legal basis in the statements of the Armenian Delegation, clearly prove once again that this country's territorial claims against Azerbaijan continue," it was said.

It was also stated that the Lachin road protest against Armenia's environmental terrorism in Azerbaijan was peaceful and that Armenia's accusations about the blockade were groundless.

"Azerbaijan has not put any restrictions along the road, and the regime for the movement of citizens, vehicles, and goods, including delivery of essential medical services along the road, remains unchanged and unimpeded. The Russian peacekeepers continue to perform their duties to regulate the movement along the road," the letter emphasized.

In the letter, there was a call to fulfill the obligations of the Trilateral Statement in the statements of the member states of the UN Security Council.

"In violation of the provisions of the trilateral statements Armenia continues its illegal military activities in the territory of Azerbaijan, where the Russian peacekeeping contingent is temporarily deployed. This includes illegal military build-up, rotation of its armed forces and illegal transfer of weapons, anti-personnel mines and personnel to this territory and resorting to other military provocations," it was said.

It was noted that in the post-conflict period, Azerbaijan took a consistent and constructive position premised on the consolidation of regional peace and stability and advancing multilateral regional cooperation.

"Azerbaijan has been tirelessly promoting the signing of a peace treaty based on the five basic principles grounded in international law presented by Azerbaijan, delimitation, and demarcation of the state border and unblocking of regional communications. Progress along these tracks is indispensable for long-term durable peace in the region," it was noted.

It was noted that continued allegations of Armenia are nothing but another attempt to mislead the international community and are aimed at aggravating the situation in the region with a view to derailing the fragile process of normalization of bilateral relations.
