Bulgarian media highlights Azerbaijan's extensive mine issues on International Mine Awareness Day
Various articles were published on April 4 in the Bulgarian media regarding Azerbaijan's extensive mine problems on International Mine Awareness Day.
The Azerbaijani Embassy in Bulgaria reported that the articles discuss how mines hinder socio-economic development in various regions of the world and pose a threat to human life, SIA reports with reference to AZERTAC.
It is also noted that there is a serious mine threat in a region close to Europe, which is a legacy of Armenia's occupation of Azerbaijani territories in the past. The articles highlight that millions of mines still remain in the liberated territories, hindering the return of civilians to their homes and posing a serious obstacle to economic activities. It is emphasized that at least $25 billion and a long period of time are required for mine clearance efforts.
The information also includes details about a mine explosion in the village of Chayli in the Tartar district on April 2, resulting in the injury of three Azerbaijani civilians engaged in agriculture. Bulgarian readers are informed about Armenia's failure to provide accurate information about the mined areas.
It is emphasized that addressing the mine problem on a global scale requires international cooperation, which is not only a moral obligation but also a necessity for saving lives.
