Azerbaijan's Ombudsman releases statement on latest Armenian provocation

Sabina Aliyeva, the human rights commissioner (ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, released a statement on the next armed provocations committed by Armenia, SIA reports with reference to AZERTAC.

The statement reads:

“Having carried out a policy of hatred and ethnic cleansing on ethnic grounds, disregarding the norms and principles of international law, and occupying the lands of Azerbaijan for nearly 30 years, evicting more than a million of our compatriots from their homes,

The Armenian leadership, which caused the disappearance of nearly 4,000 Azerbaijanis and perpetrated mine terrorism in our territories, still does not give up its insidious policy.

On February 12, the Armenian armed forces violated the ceasefire once again, firing was opened in the direction of the Kokhanabi settlement of the Tovuz district of our army, as well as the positions of the Border Troops of the State Border Service (SBS) located in the territory of Kollugishlaq village of Zangilan district, as a result, a serviceman of the SBS was injured.

At a time when new opportunities for the peace-building process are emerging in the region, the Armenian leadership should stop such provocative acts that increase the tension, and take real steps towards the establishment of peace.

I believe that international organizations should not ignore the war crimes committed by Armenia in order to establish sustainable peace in the region, and should make serious appeals to this country to end armed provocations that threaten the peace talks and the lives and health of military personnel."
