Olympic sports centre Sarhadchi has hosted the 4th consecutive international karate tournament (version WKF) "Baku Open".
The competition was attended by 250 athletes from eight countries. Adult athletes contested for medals in the first day, SIA reports citing the website of the Azerbaijani National Karate Federation.
Victory amid Azerbaijani sportsmen came from Tural Baljanli (kata), Nurana Aliyeva (50 kg), Ilaha Gasimova (55 kg), Majid Amirov (60 kg), Rafiz Hasanov (67 kg), Rafael Agayev (75 kg), Ayhan Mamayev (84 kg), Asiman Gurbanli (over 84 kg) and the men's team of Azerbaijan in kumite.
Azerbaijani karate fighters won 11 more awards of highest order the in junior (14-15 years) and youth (16-17 years) tournaments.
