A mother who brushed her dogs’ hair in a park was fined £50 for littering and told she should only groom her dog at home.
Tracey Hayes, 46, was given the penalty after two council wardens spotted her brushing her golden retriever, Biskit, and German shepherd, Rocky, on Wednesday.
And while the mother-of-two described the fine as "crazy", a local councillor insisted that "responsible dog owners groom their pets at home".
Mrs Hayes, from Romford, Essex, had been waiting for son to finish football practice when the wardens pulled up in front of her car as she tried to leave Harrow lodge Park in Hornchurch around 7.30pm.
"It seems a little crazy to me when you see the amount of litter in the park", she said.
"I always leave the dogs hair out in my garden for the birds and I haven’t met a single person to say anything against it.
