Sanctions against Russia have forced Austria to return to the "coal age" - Bloomberg

Austria is preparing to restart a coal-fired power plant that closed two years ago due to declining gas supplies from Russia. SIA reports that Bloomberg writes about this.

"The government and Verbund (the country's largest electricity supplier - Ed.) Have agreed to launch the now-defunct Mellah CHP plant to restart coal-fired power generation in an emergency," said Chancellor Karl Nehammer's office.

Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary for the Russian president, said earlier that the reduction in gas supplies to a number of European countries was due to the failure of Siemens turbines used to supply them with repairs. The news that Russia is deliberately creating problems in the "North Stream" is untrue. The Kremlin has repeatedly said that Russia has never used gas supplies to punish anyone, but sells fuel on its own interests, to improve the welfare of Russians and on a commercial basis.
