"Russia should not be pushed into permanent alliance with China"

Former US Secretary of State and National Security Adviser Henry Kissinger clarified what he said in Davos

We should remember that at the World Economic Forum in Davos, former US Secretary of State and National Security Adviser Henry Kissinger said that Ukraine should make territorial concessions in the name of peace with Russia.

It will be recalled that on that eve, the West, including the President of Ukraine Zelensky, sharply criticized Kissinger, who "offered Ukraine to give some territories to the Russians for peace."

In particular, the President of the US Council on Foreign Relations, Richard Haas, said that Kissinger's proposal was not beneficial for either Ukraine or Russia.

Kissinger, who recently clarified what he had said, said he intended to return to the situation on February 24, when Russian troops have not yet entered Ukraine. He believes that the Crimean issue can be raised only after the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.

According to the previous meeting, what he said at the World Economic Forum in Davos at that time was "... reduced and simplified by some journalists."

He also called on Western countries to stop trying to inflict a "crushing defeat on Russian forces in Ukraine." Kissinger said Russia had already lost strategically. His war demonstrated that the balance of power in Europe was undergoing a qualitative change. Contrary to everyone's expectations, Russia has not been able to defeat its weaker neighbor with conventional forces. The balance of power in the region has changed dramatically.

However, Kissinger said that Russia is also an integral part of Europe and called on the country not to push for a permanent alliance with China.
