"At COP28 in Dubai, I asked that we overcome differences and reach a consensus and think about these plans. Let's do it again at COP29,” said COP28 President-Designate Dr. Sultan Al Jaber at the Preliminary Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (Pre-COP29), SİA reports.
He wished success on the way to COP29 on behalf of the United Arab Emirates.
Sultan Al Jaber noted that a year ago, a great responsibility was placed on his country: “You have allowed us to move you all towards one vision and difference. The UAE Consensus is real and it is the result of your hard work, we have already collectively committed. The UAE consensus reached in Dubai gave us a road map. We will fulfill the commitments we made in Dubai here as well. I call you all to be united."
The COP28 President said that some issues remain unresolved: "The financial issue is the most important issue. All the promises we made before must be implemented. We have to accept the reality and fulfill our previous promises. We should strive to have comprehensive studies of carbon markets.
I asked during COP28 that we should overcome our differences and reach a consensus. Let's do it again at COP29. We must unite for the sake of humanity and the planet and a sustainable future."
