Morocco relies on modern technology in its population census process

The 2024 general census of population and housing in Morocco, which began on September 1 and will continue until September 30, is characterized by the adoption of modern technology as a real mechanism for the success of the census and the improvement of efficiency and speed in the collection and processing of data.

Based on a statement made by the regional director of the High Commission for Planning in the Casablanca-Settat region, Mohamed El-Qarfawi, to the Maghreb Arab Press Agency, that modern technology is present everywhere and is used in all stages of the process.

On this occasion, nearly 11,600 electronic boards were provided to the census teams responsible for collecting data from households in the region, as the use of modern technology greatly facilitates the task of these teams.

It is worth noting that digitization includes all stages of the census process, including field identification and mapping of census areas, which took more than a year, noting that the process of selecting participants, remote training and meetings took place via digital platforms dedicated to the census process.

It was also emphasized that technology will enable optimal data collection, as well as effective exploitation of databases created to extract basic indicators for the development plan and public policies for many years to come.

According to the High Commission for Planning, this operation, of strategic scope for Morocco, will provide a true picture of population and housing at the national level.
