UN official: Climate issues should be discussed in language people understand

Politicians need to talk more about climate change in plain language so that everyone can fully understand what is happening, Director of the UN Climate Secretariat Reporting Office Donald Cooper said at the panel called Biennial Transparency Reports (BTRs) as a tool for building national capacity at the high-level dialogue in Baku on September 3, Report informs.

He explained this by the fact that many people do not have a broad understanding of the real climate problems that humanity faces, and the main problem is the terminology and its complexity.

"It is very important to give them at least a general understanding of what we are trying to achieve," he said.

Cooper also thanked Baku for hosting COP29.

He thanked the parties for advancing the ideas, and also Azerbaijan for being a global leader, those who bear the burden of ensuring the survival of the world for another year, 10 years, 50 years and so on.
