Return of Baghanis Ayrym, Ashaghi Askipara, Kheyrimli, Kizilhajili villages of Gazakh to Azerbaijan was ensured

On April 19, 2024, the Protocol of the 8th meeting of the Security Commission was signed according to the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Commander-in-Chief Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the State Commission on the delimitation of the state border between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia , and the issues of delimitation of the state border between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, in order to ensure the liberation of the villages of Baganis Ayrim, Ashaghi Eskipara, Kheyrimli and Gizilhajili of the Republic of Azerbaijan, noted in the press release of the service of Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev, SİA reports.

In order to implement the aforementioned Protocol, the coordinates of the border line were clarified based on geodetic measurements on the ground, and a Technical Protocol was drawn up on the results of joint field work, which includes the Protocol-description of crossing the relevant border line.

On May 15, 2024, the next 9th meeting of the Commissions was held on the border between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia, the mentioned Technical Protocol was agreed upon and the corresponding Protocol of the Commissions was signed.

As a result of the delimitation works, a 12.7 km long border line was determined, and with this, the territories of 4 villages of the Gazakh district of the Republic of Azerbaijan: Baganis Ayrim, Ashaghi Eskipara, Kheyrimli and Gizilhajili (6.5 km2) were returned to Azerbaijan.

Today, the territory of the villages of Baganis Ayrim, Ashaghi Eskipara, Kheyrimli and Gizilhajili of the Gazakh region of the Republic of Azerbaijan was taken under the control of the State Border Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
