Czech Republic approves participation of citizens in Ukraine's war efforts against Russia

Since the onset of Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Czech Republic has confirmed the participation of twenty of its citizens in the war on Ukraine's side. Czech President Petr Pavel disclosed this information in an interview with the "Nova" channel on February 26.

Of particular note is that the number of Czechs expressing a desire to engage in combat against Russians in Ukraine surpasses the confirmed participants, SIA reports with reference to foreign media.

The issue arises as 54 individuals wanting to defend Ukraine could not obtain approval from the president.

In specific scenarios, certain conditions are not met – for instance, individuals should not be involved in criminal cases, as it could potentially serve as an opportunity for them to escape.

Pavel conveyed this and additionally highlighted the involvement of the defense and interior ministries in the decision-making process.

However, it remains a fact that some of these individuals exercise active caution. In such cases, their absence could potentially compromise the Czech Republic's overall combat capabilities.

Pavel emphasized this aspect as well.
