Parents of missing 'Chemicals' military unit soldiers demand meeting with Nikol Pashinyan
This morning, parents of soldiers from the "Chemicals" military unit in Etchmiadzin, who went missing during the 44-Day War, gathered for a protest in front of the government building.
SİA informs via Sputnik Armenia that the protesters stated that they had't received any communication from their sons for nearly three years. Furthermore, they raised concerns about the National Security Service (NSS) not functioning properly and the various structures seemingly forgetting about their missing sons.
"They close the doors to us, they ignore us and say that this is only our problem. But we will not allow us to be led around the finger, and the fate of our children remain unknown. We will not let them live in peace," she assured.
Earlier, the parents of the missing soldiers demanded a meeting with the head of the National Security Service, Armen Abazyan, but they were never received. The protesters said that they had met with the deputy head of the National Security Service, but were dissatisfied with the outcome of the meeting.
“For three years now, they have been telling us that they are working, but there are no results. They are deliberately dragging out time so that we get tired and stop fighting,” one of the protesters said.
According to the Armenian government, the whereabouts of 975 Armenian citizens is unknown. Of them, 777 disappeared during the first Karabakh war, and 196 during the 44-day war.
