Poland prepared to cooperate with Turkiye in fight against migration

Poland's Deputy Foreign Minister Arkadiusz Mularczyk said that his country is ready to cooperate and exchange experience with Turkiye, as a friend and strategic partner in the fight against migration, SIA refers to Turkish media.

Arkadiusz Mularczyk made a statement to "Anadolu" agency about how Europe treats migration management and the events in Poland after the start of the Russia-Ukraine war on February 24.

Stating that Poland has not put forward any conditions regarding immigration restrictions to the European Union (EU) in connection with the Ukraine crisis, Mularczyk pointed out that the costs related to the reception, resettlement and provision of basic needs of Ukrainians are a significant burden on the country.

Noting that grant agreements have been signed with the European Commission and that they have received the first part of the support, about 700 million zlotys (149 million euros), Mularczyk stressed that they assume that the costs are at the level of 10 billion zlotys (2.2 billion euros).

The deputy minister said that states should fight the migration crisis more evenly and in solidarity.

"We are ready to cooperate and exchange experience with Turkiye, which Poland sees as a friend and strategic partner," the minister added.

Emphasizing that they will continue to support the Ukrainian people, Mularczyk said that since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war, more than 9 million Ukrainians have crossed the Polish border. There are currently about 3.5 million Ukrainians in the country, and more than 1 million of them are officially registered and working.

Stating that they are facing the biggest crisis since the Second World War, Arkadiusz Mularczyk said: "Thanks to the solidarity and transparency of the Polish people, the efforts of the government and local authorities, we were able to control the situation and host our neighbors."
