Azerbaijani boxer Emili Rzayeva became the European champion among teenagers, SIA refers to the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation.
The Azerbaijani athlete, who competed in the 70 kg weight category, achieved this success at the continental championship held in Montesilvano, Italy.
Rzayeva, who won against Olga Filipchuk (Ukraine) and Gül Yılmaz (Turkey), faced Polish Yoanna Araszewska in the final. Our representative won the match with a score of 5:0. The victorious boxer won the gold medal of the European Championship.
Narmin Alizade (48 kg), who defeated Mahur Marikyan (Armenia) and Silva Formela (Poland) consecutively in the previous stages, faced Ruby White from England in the final. As the opponent won in the decisive match, our boxer was satisfied with the silver medal.
As a result, our team of female boxers finished the European Championship with 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medal. A day before, Aynur Mikayilova (50 kg) took the third place.
The team won 3 medals, setting a new record in the history of Azerbaijani boxing.
