A Seminar on Clinical Nutrition Held at the Central Customs Hospital

On October 30, 2026, a seminar was held at the Central Customs Hospital, organized by the Scientific-Practical and Training Center of the Medical Service Department of the State Customs Committee.

Speaking at the opening of the seminar, Deputy Head of the Medical Service Department of the State Customs Committee, PhD in Medicine Ismayil Afandiyev, highlighted the important role of Friday seminars in the professional development of medical residents, acquisition of up-to-date medical knowledge, and enhancement of clinical practice. He also emphasized the significance of such scientific events in promoting professional exchange of experience and discussing current medical issues.

The seminar featured a presentation entitled “Malnutrition and Nutritional-Metabolic Support” delivered by Dr. Ilgar Karimov, Director of Baku Nutrition Center, anesthesiologist and intensivist, and specialist in clinical nutrition.

During the presentation, Dr. Karimov provided detailed information on the causes of malnutrition, its impact on patients’ overall health and treatment outcomes, as well as the importance of nutritional-metabolic support in clinical practice. He also addressed the assessment of patients’ nutritional status, identification of individual nutritional requirements, and provision of nutritional support based on modern clinical approaches.

The scientific and practical insights shared during the seminar provided medical residents with an opportunity to become familiar with contemporary approaches to clinical nutrition and nutritional-metabolic support. The seminar concluded with a question-and-answer session and an exchange of views on clinical cases.

It should be noted that the Friday seminars organized by the Scientific-Practical and Training Center of the Medical Service Department of the State Customs Committee aim to support the professional training of medical residents, broaden their knowledge across various medical specialties, and bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and clinical practice.
