Aghdam's "Qarabag" club won its first victory in the UEFA Europa League group stage.
The Azerbaijani team, which is in group G, received the French club "Nantes".
Before the start of the match at the Republic Stadium named after Tofig Bahramov, the fans commemorated the Azerbaijani servicemen who died while preventing the large-scale provocation by the Armenian armed forces on the state border with a 1 minute silence.
The first minutes of the meeting were exploratory in nature. In the 14th minute of the match, goalkeeper Shahruddin Mahammadaliyev prevented Moyzes Simon from "Nantes" from scoring. In the 27th minute, M.Simon went one-on-one with the goalkeeper of "Qarabag" Shahruddin Mahammadaliyev, but the next time he left the duel defeated. At the end of the first half, "Qarabag" increased the number of their attacks. In the 43rd minute, Badavi Huseynov was close to scoring with a header, but the opposing goalkeeper Alban Lyafon did not allow the score to open. There were no shots on goal in the first part of the match.
The champion of Azerbaijan started the second half more actively. In the 60th minute of the match, 25-year-old Ghanaian striker Kwabena Ovusu of Agdam managed to open the score. Five minutes later, Abdullah Zubir increased the difference between the scores after a pass by Kadi Borges. In the 72nd minute of the match, Marko Yankovic disappointed the visitors by scoring a beautiful goal. "Nantes" tried to reduce the difference between the scores in the following minutes, but could not achieve their objective.
The match ended with a 3:0 victory of "Qarabag".
The representative of Aghdam will play their next game against "Olympiakos" away on October 6.
