Azerbaijan to participate in the World Water Polo Championship

Azerbaijan's National Junior Water Polo team will participate in the world championship for the first time in the country's water sports history.

This was stated by the head coach of the national water polo team, Azer Babayev, the press service of the Azerbaijan Swimming Federation told SIA.

According to him, the national team consisting of athletes born in 2006-2007 is already in Greece and the final preparatory exercises for the upcoming U-16 World Championship are underway.

"This is the first time in the history of water sports in Azerbaijan that we are participating in such a prestigious and ranked tournament. 40 teams, including the strongest teams in the world, will compete in the competition. Our team will compete with Croatia and Slovenia in the most difficult group. Our goal is to show our strength in these matches and make the most of this international experience," added Azer Babayev.

The U-16 World Water Polo Championship will be held in Volos, Greece on August 21-27.
