Azerbaijan's wrestling team achieves historic success

The European championship among wrestlers under 15 years of age has come to an end in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. According to SIA, the Azerbaijani national team has achieved a historic success in Greco-Roman wrestling.

12 members of the national team rose to the podium. Ali Sujayev (38 kg), Turan Dashdamirov (41 kg), Yusif Ahmadli (57 kg) and Emil Abdullayev (62 kg) became European champions by defeating all their opponents.

Sayyad Naghizadeh (48 kg), Aykhan Javadov (52 kg) and Orkhan Hajiyev (75 kg) were second, Ali Nazarov (41 kg), Amrah Amrahov (44 kg), Javad Mammadov (62 kg), Elnur Huseynov (68 kg) and Mikayil Ismayilov (85 kg) took the third place.

The team won 4 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze medals and became the European champion with 205 points. Azerbaijan is 76 points ahead of second-placed Turkiye. Ukraine took the third place with 123 points. In terms of the quality and quantity of national medals, they surpassed all their competitors.

The result achieved in Zagreb is a record indicator for the number and quality of medals, and the number of points collected in the team account for Greco-Roman wrestling at the U-15 European championships.
