The European Junior Boxing Championship has started in Sofia, Bulgaria. Two members of the Azerbaijani national team entered the ring in the afternoon session of the first day of the 8-day competition. According to the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation, Daniel Kholostenko was the first to join the fight in our team. He tested his strength in the weight category of 71 kg with the champion of the country Andrei Osiyevschi (Moldova). The match within the 1/16 finals ended with the victory of our boxer. Kholostenko defeated his opponent ahead of schedule. Our representative will face Hungarian Levent Gemes in the 1/8 finals.
The meeting will take place on April 17. Another member of our national team Said Abdullayev (67 kg) also repeated the success of his teammate. Our compatriot Samuel Gugliotta (Italy) won a tense battle. He won with a score of 3: 2 (29:28, 29:28, 27:30, 28:29, 29:28) and qualified for the 1/8 finals. At this stage, Abdullayev will face Turkish Kaan Bilge. He will fight for the second time on April 16.
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani national team is fully represented in the boys' competition at the European Championship.
