Azerbaijani national team went to the Karate1-Premier League tournament on September 6-8 in Tokyo.
There are 10 athletes in the squad led by President of the National Karate Federation Yashar Bashirov.
SIA reports that, the coaching staff has approved nine male and one female athletes in the Japanese Premier League. Firdovsi Farzaliyev (-60 kg), Rafiz Hasanov and Hummat Bakhshaliyev (-67 kg), Rafael Aghayev (-75 kg), Aykhan Mamayev, Panah Abdullayev and Turgut Hasanov (-84 kg), Asiman Gurbanli (+84 kg) Irina Zaretska (-68 kg) will perform in kumite and Roman Heydarov will compete in the floor.
Nearly 700 competitors from 79 countries are registered to participate in the event. As the Karate 1-Premier League Tokyo will be the last international event to be held in Tokyo before the Olympic debut of the sport, the karate world is thrilled to watch the best karatekas in the world competing in Nippon Budokan this weekend. All the current World champions and all the defending Grand Winners will fight for the gold medals this weekend thus guaranteeing the outstanding level of competition at the 2019 Karate 1-Premier League Tokyo.
