At the closing ceremony of the Tata Steel Chess Tournament 2024 held in Wijk aan Zee, the Netherlands, Dutch player Max Warmerdam and Belgian player Stefan Beukema were honored with the Vugar Hashimov Fair Play Award.
Introduced this year by tournament director Jeroen Van den Berg, the Vugar Gashimov Award for fair play recognizes exemplary sportsmanship in chess.
Both players received this award for the first time since its inception in 2016.
