During the opening ceremony of the European Weightlifting Championship, Armenian designer Aram Nikolyan snatched the flag of Azerbaijan from the flag bearer and set it on fire, after which he fled the stage with the flag. After this incident, the Azerbaijani team refused to participate in the competition.
