State Customs Committee donates trained dogs to Mine Action Agency

The State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan has donated 5 trained dogs to the Mine-cleaning Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA) in order to support the humanitarian demining activities carried out in the liberated territories.

The event held at the Canine Center of the State Customs Committee was attended by Vugar Suleymanov, Chairman of the Management Board of the Azerbaijan Republic's Mine-cleaning Agency (ANAMA) and Shahin Bagirov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee, Acting Chairman, Lieutenant General of the Customs Service.

Speaking at the event, Vugar Suleymanov expressed his gratitude for the support and expressed hope that the presented dogs will contribute to the creation of a safe, sustainable and healthy living environment in Karabakh by performing long-term activities.

Sahin Bagirov pointed out that the event coincides with the day of the liberation of Fuzuli, one of the regions most polluted by landmines and unexploded military munitions.

The Chairman also emphasized that the strengthening of cooperation between ANAMA and SSC in the direction of detecting explosive substances, the organization of trainings and exchange of experience will benefit future joint cooperation.

The dogs donated to the agency will be trained by ANAMA to participate in humanitarian demining operations. After the training, they will be accredited according to the International Mine-cleaning Standards (IMAS) and will participate in demining operations carried out in Karabakh.

In the end, 5 trained dogs, their registration certificates, accessories and cages necessary for their transportation were presented to ANAMA.
