State committee chair: Municipalities should solve citizens' primary problems

Municipalities should focus on solving citizens' problems within possible frameworks, Bahar Muradova, the chairperson of Azerbaijan’s State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, said in her statement to journalists, Report informs.

According to Muradova, municipalities have a significant role in governance:

"Municipal elections require constant communication with citizens. Solving problems in citizens' living spaces is an important aspect. Therefore, municipalities have a major role in governance. Considering that Azerbaijan has entered a new era, and in this era, flexibility and citizen satisfaction are at the forefront. I would very much like elected individuals, regardless of their political affiliation, to be guided by these principles. They should work with citizens within the framework of possibilities. These opportunities exist, they just need to be mobilized."

Muradova noted that the current election process is proceeding very smoothly:

"Holding elections at three levels within a year requires great effort and work. Both electoral institutions and citizens who nominate themselves are freely and comfortably using the rights determined by law. From the high-level organization of elections, it's possible to understand that no negative incidents have occurred, and the probability of them occurring is low."
