International photo contest "Climate Action in Focus" announces winners

The winners of the international photo competition "Climate Action in Focus", aimed at raising awareness about climate change and contributing to environmental protection education, have been announced. The contest, organized by the COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company, concluded after receiving submissions from talented photographers in nearly 20 different countries.

SİA informs, citing COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company, that launched on August 1, the project invited photographers worldwide to join the global dialogue on climate change through visual storytelling. The contest aimed to draw public attention to pressing climate issues and support active education. For over a month, photographers from countries including the USA, Germany, Spain, Italy, Poland, Hungary, Russia, India, Argentina, Myanmar, Nigeria, Tajikistan, Nepal, Iraq, and Afghanistan participated with their original works, attempting to depict the impacts of climate change on various aspects of our lives from different perspectives.

After a thorough evaluation process based on the competition's rules and criteria, the jury determined the winners. So Pyay Lynn from Myanmar won first place with his photo "Difficult Life", while Adam Fath from Hungary secured second place with "Flowers of a Drying Lake", and Adebote Mayowa from Nigeria took third place with his work "Makoko". These photographs reflect the global effects of climate change and invite viewers to contemplate solutions and gain a deeper understanding of this shared problem.

As per the competition's terms, a selection of the submitted photographs will be exhibited at the Azerbaijan Pavilion in the Green Zone during the COP29 conference on November 20. The Green Zone will serve as a dynamic hub for climate action at COP29, and this exhibition will help the participants and winners convey their intended messages to a global audience, fostering connections and gaining international recognition.
