Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said that the Armenian leadership is to blame for the events that have taken place in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan in recent years, SİA informs referring to TASS.
He was speaking at a meeting with representatives of different nationalities living in Belarus.
"And what happened in Karabakh is the fault of the Armenian leadership alone. I warned them (the Armenian authorities - ed.) personally: give them (Azerbaijan - ed.) these territories. Moreover, they (the Armenian authorities - ed.) admitted that these are "not our territories." Yes, these are not our lands, these are Azerbaijani ones. But we (Armenia - ed.) will not give them up - we will fight," Lukashenko said.
The Belarusian leader noted that he called for a peaceful settlement of the problem between Yerevan and Baku.
"Then I asked Putin. The two of us started asking Pashinyan: "Solve this problem!" Lukashenko said, noting that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan responded: "No, we will fight."
"Well, you fought. And then, why should you be offended by Russia or us now? You yourself (Pashinyan - ed.) recognized Karabakh as Azerbaijani territory," Lukashenko said.
