TURKPA Commission discusses Parliaments' role in scientific and technological development in Baku meeting

The 11th meeting of the TURKPA Commission on Legal Affairs and International Relations, focusing on "The role of parliaments in scientific and technological developments and legislative support in TURKPA member states," recently convened in Baku.

In his opening address, Ahliman Amiraslanov, Chairman of the TURKPA Commission on Environment, Natural Resources, and Health Protection, highlighted TURKPA's significant efforts in strengthening relations and cooperation among Turkic-speaking countries, emphasizing the importance of harmonizing their legislations. The meeting's theme was deemed highly relevant, addressing crucial issues on the agenda.

Welcoming remarks were made by Osman Mesten, Chairperson of the TURKPA Commission on Legal Affairs and International Relations, Abzal Kuspan (Kazakhstan), Vice-Chairman of the Commission, and other members including Javanshir Feyziyev and Malahat Ibrahimgizi (Azerbaijan), Bibigul Jeksenbay (Kazakhstan), Nurjigit Kadyrbekov (Kyrgyzstan), Filiz Kılıç (Turkey), and Secretary-General of TURKPA Mehmet Sureyya Er.

The participants shared their perspectives on the development of relations among TURKPA member states, emphasizing cooperation in digital technologies, information security, artificial intelligence, and the crucial role of parliaments in scientific and technological advancements.

Abzal Kuspan, Vice-Chairman of the Commission, presented the draft report on the meeting's main topic, which was approved by the TURKPA Commission members. The report, along with recommendation decisions, will be considered at the next plenary meeting of TURKPA.

Furthermore, the participants reviewed a draft model law on "Personal Data Protection" and addressed other pertinent issues, reaching relevant decisions. During the discussions, MPs Malahat Ibrahimgizi and Javanshir Feyziyev proposed agenda items, sharing their insights on the commission's future activities.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to convene the 12th meeting of the TURKPA Commission on Legal Affairs and International Relations, focusing on "Ombudsman Institutions in TURKPA member states," next year in Kazakhstan.
