Russia will strengthen relations between CIS countries, Putin says
Russia will pursue a policy of strengthening relations between the CIS member countries, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at an expanded meeting of the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) Council of Heads of State in Bishkek, SIA reports with reference to foreign media.
"Russia is committed to actively working on further enhancing the authority of the CIS as an integration entity and developing comprehensive cooperation within the Commonwealth based on the principles of mutual understanding, trust, equality, and good neighborliness. This primarily concerns addressing key tasks aimed at improving the well-being and quality of life for the citizens of our states," the head of state noted.
"Relations between Russia and Georgia are currently smooth. Tbilisi is also interested in cooperation with its neighbors," Putin said speaking in Bishkek on the results of the summit of the member countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The Russian President had stated some time ago that Armenia will not leave the CIS.
According to the Russian leader, he called Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and discussed the meeting at the summit via telephone.
