A total of 10,108 individuals have been diagnosed with HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) in Azerbaijan since the first detection of the virus in the country in 1987 until the end of the third quarter of 2024, stated Famil Mammadov, Director of the Republican AIDS Center under the Health Ministry of Azerbaijan, SİA informs.
Mammadov mentioned that 7,026 (69.5%) of those infected were men, while 3,082 (30.5%) were women.
Compared to other countries in the region, Azerbaijan has one of the lowest HIV infection rates, the director noted.
