Foreign objects found in blind damages of AZAL's crashed plane

Foreign objects have been discovered in the wreckage of the Embraer 190 passenger aircraft owned by Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) that crashed near Aktau city in Kazakhstan.

SİA informs that this was noted in the preliminary investigation report conducted in accordance with the requirements of Annex 13 of the 1944 Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation of the International Civil Aviation Organization.

According to the report, the discovered foreign objects were collected, and photos of these foreign objects were presented to the public in the preliminary report.

It was stated that additional expert examinations are planned in the future to determine the exact origin of the discovered foreign objects.

A passenger aircraft belonging to AZAL, operating the Baku-Grozny flight, crashed near the city of Aktau, Kazakhstan, on December 25. Of the 67 people on board, 38 died and 29 survived.

According to preliminary information, the aircraft crashed as a result of physical external interference that occurred in Russian airspace over Grozny.
