A meeting was held with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Germany to Azerbaijan Ralf Horleman and the Embassy's staff at the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park.
Elshad Nuriyev, Chairman of the Board of the Economic Zones Development Agency (EZIA), informed about the industrial zones and agroparks operating in the country, the investment environment created for entrepreneurs, applied tax and customs benefits. A presentation of the industrial zones was shown to the businessmen as well.
Embassy employees were then informed about the Vocational Education Center of the Economic Zones Development Agency. It was reported that German experience is used in the teaching process of the Center. Currently, classes in the "Technician of Information and Communication Technologies" specialty are taught in the Center based on the German curriculum education system.
Emphasizing that Azerbaijan is located in a favorable area in terms of logistical opportunities, Ambassador Ralf Horlemann pointed out that his country is interested in the development of relations with Azerbaijan, and shared his views on the prospects for the development of cooperation.
At the meeting, discussions were held on German companies investing in industrial zones, expanding the application of German technology in production enterprises operating in industrial zones, and the possibilities of using German experience even more widely in the educational process of the Vocational Education Center under IZIA.
Then the embassy employees got acquainted with the activities of the Vocational Training Center and the production process at the Varaka glass production facility of "Azerfloat" CJSC, a resident of the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park. It was pointed out that the technology of the German company "HORN Glass Industries AG" with 135 years of experience is used at the plant.
