The Azerbaijani delegation led by Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov held a number of meetings in Qatar, SIA refers to the press service of the Ministry of Economy.
Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of Qatar Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani received the Azerbaijani delegation. At the meeting, the successes achieved under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the rapid development of Azerbaijan-Qatar cooperation, and the importance of high-level visits in the expansion of relations were emphasized. "There is a great potential for strengthening the partnership between our countries, and in this regard, the implementation of joint projects and initiatives is of particular importance," stated the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan. At the meeting, information was given on the economy of Azerbaijan, and prospects for the future development of cooperation were mentioned.
Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of Qatar, emphasized the friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Qatar, his country's interest in the development of relations with Azerbaijan, and shared his views on strengthening the partnership.
The parties discussed the possibilities of expanding cooperation between the two countries in energy, transport-logistics, mutual investment and other areas of the economy. In the meeting with the personal representative of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, views were exchanged on the development of bilateral relations and economic relations between Azerbaijan and Qatar on the upward line, mutually beneficial cooperation, as well as strengthening of relations in investment-trade and other fields.
Within the framework of the visit to Qatar, the Azerbaijani delegation held discussions with the Minister of Trade and Industry, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Abdullah Al Thani. It was stated that trade cooperation is one of the main directions of bilateral relations.
At the meeting, the prospects of exporting Azerbaijan's non-oil products to the markets of Qatar are wider and the special importance of diversifying trade relations was emphasized. It was noted that favorable business environment of Azerbaijan, strong transport and logistics potential, opportunities of Baku Sea Trade Port, Alat Free Economic Zone are the main stimulating factors in achieving this goal.
The parties exchanged views on the issues of expanding trade between the two countries, strengthening cooperation in the areas of investment, transport, energy, industry, small and medium business development.
At the meeting with Mansur bin Ebrahim Al Mahmoud, the chief executive officer of the Qatar Investment Authority, information was provided about the efficient investment environment and economic potential of Azerbaijan, the favorable geographical position of our country. The fact that it is located at the intersection of important transport junctions and has become a transit "hub" was brought to attention, and Qatari investors were invited to take advantage of these opportunities.
Discussions were also held on strengthening the economic relations of our countries, promoting joint investments with Azerbaijan Investment Holding and Azerbaijan Investment Company, expanding cooperation in the field of renewable energy.
