Minister of Economic Development of Russia Maksim Reshetnikov, who is on a working visit to Azerbaijan, and Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov, visited Alat Free Economic Zone and Baku Shipyard.
Executive Director of "Baku Shipyard" LLC Imanverdi Hasanov informed the guest about the activity of the plant. It was reported that the construction and repair of ships is carried out at the plant established in 2011. The enterprise with an annual production capacity of 25,000 tons of metal structures has built 10 ships so far, and about 170 ship repair and modernization projects have been implemented.
Officials in the Alat Free Economic Zone were also informed about the possibilities of the Economic Zone. Valeh Alasgarov, the Chairman of the Board of the authorized institution of the Alat Free Economic Zone, spoke about the logistics centers built here and other work done. He emphasized that the created infrastructure will be attractive for investors, and will play a special role in expanding the potential of the East-West and North-South corridors of the Economic Zone. The officials noted that the Economic Zone located in a favorable geographical position will create new opportunities for the development of the non-oil economy, promotion of export-oriented production and exports.
