Azerbaijan, Finland discuss cooperation in Energy field

Deputy Minister of Energy Samir Valiyev met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland for foreign trade relations Mrs. Nina Vaskunlahti and the accompanying delegation. Opinions on the possibilities of development of energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Finland were exchanged at the meeting.

During the conversation, the important role of the Southern Gas Corridor in ensuring energy security and diversification of energy resources in the region was discussed, and the importance of the Memorandum of Understanding on strategic partnership in the field of energy signed between the European Union and Azerbaijan in this direction was emphasized, the Ministry of Energy told SIA.

Information on the energy projects implemented in Azerbaijan, the development of renewable energy sources, and the measures implemented in the direction of creating a green energy zone in the territories freed from occupation was provided to the Finnish delegation. The Minister noted that there is a possibility of studying Finnish experience in this field, as well as a great potential for the participation of Finnish companies in projects.

Views on a number of other areas of mutual interest in energy cooperation were also exchanged at the meeting.
