Japan and Australia have agreed to strengthen cooperation in the field of trade and investment in energy resources, including liquefied natural gas, against the backdrop of the situation in Ukraine and the volatility of energy prices, SİA informs, referring to a joint statement issued following the talks between Prime Ministers of the two countries Fumio Kishida and Anthony Albanese, held on Saturday in Perth, Australia.
"In the wake of Russia's aggression against Ukraine and subsequent global energy market volatility and fuel supply issues, the leaders reaffirmed the critical importance of enhancing energy security cooperation, including through secure and reliable energy resources trade and investment, such as in liquefied natural gas (LNG)," the statement reads.
Kishida added that Japan and Australia agreed to deepen cooperation aimed at creating an affordable, reliable and safe clean energy market in the Indo-Pacific region.
