Moldova gets permission to purchase gas from Romanian market

Moldovan Energocom has received a license from the Romanian Energy Regulatory Authority. This will allow the company to buy and sell natural gas on the Romanian market, said deputy prime minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Moldova Andrei Spinu, SİA informs.

He noted that Energocom is also registered on the regional booking platform and has access to gas storage facilities in Ukraine. In addition, Moldovan Moldelectrica signed an agreement with Transelectrica Romania, which provides for gas supplies in case of force majeure.

“Step by step, we are increasing the energy security of our country,” Spinu said.

Earlier the Moldovan government approved the formation of a permanent gas reserve in case of a state of emergency. The volume of the reserve will not be less than 22.8 million cubic meters. This work is entrusted to Energocom.
