Azerbaijani President: Azerbaijani gas to be transported to three Balkan countries through Ionian-Adriatic Pipeline
"After the starting of the Ukraine-Russia war, the issue of natural gas has become one of the main issues on the agenda of Europe. There are many projects, one of which is the Greece-Bulgaria Interconnector, which is nearing completion. Another similar project is the Ionian-Adriatic pipeline. Through this pipeline, Azerbaijani gas will be transported to three Balkan countries," said President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev while his speech on “The role of Azerbaijan for Energy Security” at the plenary session of the 48th edition of the international Cernobbio Forum in Cernobbio, Italy, SİA reports.
Head of state noted that recently, Azerbaijan has received official requests from more than 10 countries - Georgia, Turkiye, Italy, Bulgaria, and others - either on increasing the existing gas supply or new connection to the gas supply.
