Iran intends to increase gas supplies - Cavad Ovci

1.5 billion cubic meters of gas will be transported from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan via Iran annually. The statement came from Iranian Oil Minister Javad Ovji on the first day of a conference within the Baku Energy Forum, SIA reports.

According to him, this is done on the basis of a tripartite agreement signed between Azerbaijan, Iran and Turkmenistan.

Ovci said that Iran intends to increase gas supplies to Turkey: "Currently, Iran supplies 30 million cubic meters of natural gas to Turkey daily. At the same time, our country supplies about 60 million cubic meters to Iraq daily."

The Minister said that the sanctions imposed on Iran were ineffective: “Nevertheless, Iran was able to develop its oil and gas infrastructure. Today, Iran supplies gas to all neighboring countries through pipelines. We are ready to cooperate with all neighboring countries and are ready to meet all the gas needs of our neighbors, and we have all the infrastructure for this. "

The Minister noted that Iran has always been ready to cooperate in all countries.

Ovchi stressed that Iran's natural gas production has reached 2 billion cubic meters per day and for oil production 4 million barrels: "We plan to produce 1.4 billion cubic meters of gas in the coming years, and we intend to increase crude oil production to 6 million barrels per day" he stated.

It should be noted that from January 3, 2022, Turkmenistan, Iran and Azerbaijan have started to supply 4.5 million cubic meters of gas per day within the gas exchange. Iran supplies Turkmen gas to the east of the country and supplies the same amount to Azerbaijan in northeastern Iran.

The agreement on gas exchange between Azerbaijan, Iran and Turkmenistan was signed on November 28, 2021 in Ashgabat.
