Electric car sales increased by 75%

In the first quarter of 2022, global sales of electric vehicles increased by 75% compared to the same period in 2021. During this period, a total of about 2 million electric cars were sold. This is stated in the review of the International Energy Agency (IEA), SIA reports quoting TASS.

According to the agency, the increase in sales is also due to the increase in government subsidies for the development of the industry. Therefore, in 2021, the amount of funding will increase to $ 30 billion. At the same time, more and more countries have announced that they are moving away from internal combustion engines or have presented their plans to electrify transport for the next few decades. In 2021, electric cars were introduced five times more than in 2015, and now they have 450 models on the market.

In 2021, China accounted for about 50 percent of the increase in sales of electric cars, and in 2022 this trend is also maintained. In the first three months of this year, sales of this type of cars in China more than doubled. In the United States, the figure was 60 percent, and in Europe 25 percent. At the same time, in developing countries, electric cars remain inaccessible to many categories of the population. For example, in Brazil, India and Indonesia, electric cars account for only 0.5% of all car sales.
