Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov met with Romanian Minister of Energy Virgil Daniel Popescu as part of the event "Energy Transition in Southeast Europe: Regional Cooperation for Energy Security, Diversification and Transition to Green Energy". According to the info given to SIA by the press service of the Ministry of Energy, the meeting discussed the prospects for the production of "green energy" and its export to Romania due to the huge wind resources available in the Azerbaijani part of the Caspian Sea. The sides exchanged views on the amount of energy to be transmitted via Georgia and the Black Sea via submarine power cables.
Given the importance of the project in terms of expanding electricity export opportunities between the region and the European market, it was agreed to hold a tripartite online working meeting between stakeholders as soon as possible to intensify discussions.
The sides also exchanged views on a number of other issues related to the development of bilateral energy cooperation.
