Japan not planning to refuse from importing Russian oil immediately - minister
Tokyo is not planning to refuse from importing Russian oil immediately as a possible sanction measure, Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Koichi Hagiuda said on Thursday during a visit to the United States.
According to Kyodo agency, the minister said that it would be difficult for Japan to join other countries who are refusing from Russian oil due to the scarcity of resources.
According to the ministry, Japan’s dependence on Russian oil stands at 3.6% and on liquefied natural gas - at 8.8%
The European Union is planning to impose the sixth package of anti-Russian sanctions, which envisages phased refusal from Russian oil. According to diplomatic sources and the European mass media, the European Commission suggests EU countries refuse from importing Russian crude oil in six months and oil products in 2023.
