Presentations on business digitalization - PHOTOS

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the Ministry of Economy jointly organized an event on "Digitalization of companies in Azerbaijan" in a hybrid format. The event was attended by representatives of a number of government agencies, as well as embassies and chambers of commerce of the OECD member countries in Azerbaijan.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Economy Sahib Mammadov stressed the importance of Azerbaijan's relations with the OECD, the importance of cooperation in terms of applying international experience in the implementation of systemic measures aimed at economic development and diversification. It was noted that joint activities with the OECD in the field of digitalization of enterprises have been launched since February last year, and important work is being done in this area. The Deputy Minister briefed the participants on the measures taken to develop the private sector in Azerbaijan, the application of digitalization, the positive results of work to minimize the impact of pandemics and external shocks on the country's economy, national priorities, business revival in the liberated territories, application of new technologies and methods in this field.

Chairman of the Board of KOBIA Orkhan Mammadov stressed the importance of the OECD initiatives in the field of digitalization of small and medium business (SME) in Azerbaijan, spoke about the development of SMEs. It was noted that SMEs, which play an important role in economic development, make up the vast majority of businesses in the country. In this regard, their development in line with modern trends, including digitalization, is important. It was noted that the pandemic had a negative impact on the activities of SMEs and made digitalization even more urgent. Taking all this into account, special attention is paid to the widespread use of digitalization. He spoke about the digitalization of SMEs, mechanisms to support small and medium enterprises, innovative solutions, etc. He gave detailed information about the work done in these areas and the planned measures.

Gerard Odaz, Head of Economic Cooperation with Eastern Partnership Countries at the European Commission's Directorate-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations stressed.

The event featured presentations and discussions on "Promoting the digitalization of companies in Azerbaijan" and "After COVID-19: Accelerating the digital transformation of business in the Eastern Partnership countries."
