In May, the price of bread in Georgia will be revised and the price of bread will increase by about 20 tetri (about 6 cents). The statement came from chairman of the Georgian Bread Producers Union Malkhaz Dolidze at a briefing today, SIA reports.
According to him, after the opening of the border with Russia in late March, the price of flour from the neighboring country was 75 lari (about $ 25). The price of domestically produced flour is 80 GEL. If we add to this price the cost of electricity, gas, water, transportation and labor costs, the price of bread will definitely increase.
Dolidze said: “The Minister of Agriculture stated that prices will be considered. But our expectations are different. We are not saying that the price of bread in the country will increase as much as the price of sugar, oil and fat. But I must say that the increase will be around 20 tetri. "
