Egypt and EU strengthen cooperation in natural gas

According to some sources, Egypt and the European Union (EU) have agreed to strengthen cooperation in the field of natural gas in the search for alternatives to Russian gas. According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Foreign Minister Samih Shukri met in Cairo with Frans Timmermans, Executive Vice President of the European Commission for the European Green Agreement, and the accompanying delegation.

A joint statement issued by Egypt and the EU Commission said that an agreement had been reached to strengthen cooperation in the field of natural gas as part of finding an alternative to Russian gas.

"The parties also agreed to increase cooperation in the supply of liquefied natural gas and green hydrogen, and to develop the Mediterranean Green Hydrogen Partnership, which covers hydrogen trade between Europe, Africa and the Gulf countries," the statement said.

The statement said that the impact of the current geopolitical situation should not reduce the desire for climate change, and agreed that the financial opportunities offered to developing countries will not be reduced.
