The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is being fully renovated, which is why it is currently closed, Türkiye's Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu told journalists in Ankara.
The minister noted that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan plans to visit China in October: "China is interested in joint work on the Turkish lines in Konya, Aksaray, Yenice and Akdeniz. A number of tenders and negotiations have been held in this direction.
In our region, there are enough opportunities related to the activities of the One Belt, One Road initiative. Most countries want to take part in this project either by playing a transit role or through direct involvement. We also have the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line, which is currently being renovated."
